We haven't sold the house yet, but got a realtor listing it for us. So once it sells we will come back to town to sign the papers.
We are planning on leaving for our trip in April, but Tom has alot of work to do before we can leave. We need to be in Florida the 3rd week of May to meet up with Neal and Nicole, and Michelle will be flying down to stay a few days with us if she can. Neal and Nicole should be back in the States the 3rd week of May after they honeymoon in Greece. We will spend some time in Florida then come back to the marina slowly, doing our stops on the way home. We figure we should be back at the marina about early September right before the Hurricane season.
Why are we going so early to the boat? Well anyone who knows Tom, knows how slow he can be fixing things. So we will move out there, give him several months to get things ready. Plus the weather is still nice. Today it's 64 degrees at the boat and I'm not there.
I will get a job when we move out there, he will spend his days working on the boat, and babysitting the dog. Boodles won't let him out of her site, so to make the transition easier for her, he will stay home with her. Plus the fact to get the dog on and off the boat, she needs lifted and carried, that's his job.
The Shopping List:
We need to buy a few more things for the boat, we are going to go look for a small freezer so we don't have to keep running to the store as often. Plus the fact we can use the extra counter space. They have really small ones out there that we need to measure to see if it will fit on the boat. The refrigator has a freezer but you can fit 2 trays of ice cubes and it's full. So we need another solution.
We are looking for an inverter to run the refrigator during the day when the generator isn't running. We have enough spare batteries that will be charging while the boat is running to run the fridge.
We still need to get a grill, a good radio, a dinghy, a better GPS, and safety equipment.
The dog needs a life vest, I think bright Pink, fashionable, Tom is bulking at that suggestion.
Then right before we leave I have to go to Sprint and get an Aircard so I can always have Internet connection.
He may think that while we are getting the boat ready that he will be fishing all day, but I have plans for him:
The Honey-do List:
The most importaint thing is - He has to build my office for my computer, at least build me a desk so I can work. Since I have to work from the boat while we are on our vacation. (some vacation huh?). But I only plan on working about 2 hours a day. And it really won't be work- I enjoy writing.
Replace the carpet in the livingroom. ( I want a different color)
Install the flatscreen TV/monitor screen
Install the Direct TV (which we are still arguing about, he don't like the Dish part of that)
Build storage cabinets, install storage shelves in the kitchen.
Fix the leak in the hatch above where I sleep. Last time I was there I got dripped on.
Paint the wood to make it look new again.
So me going to work will be easier than the list of things that he has to do. But he will be happy, and I get out and off the boat everyday for the next few months.
