Judy Gets A New Toy!

Ahhh It's my turn to get a toy...

I went and bought a metal detector and headed off to the beach on Friday while I was off. I couldn't of picked a better day to do this. It was cold, windy and raining lightly.

The salesman at Radio shack assured me that I would find valuable things since this area is rich with old history... (lol like there is new history) -- but anyhow I bought it ( I didn't buy his story though) just knowing that I would find the next great treasure.... Well ok I knew I wouldn't find anything big, but hey I would be able to get out walking more...and that would help me lose more weight.....

So the beach was cold and me and Susie about froze to death while the waves sprayed water on us so that we could be encased in ice...... We walked and the little gem of a machine went off we found something after only 10 minutes. Of course we dug it up, and found a rusty old sandy nail... Big whoop....

But we were still hopeful... we got another beep down the beach away- we dug it up with the dollar store slotted spoon - and before we got to our treasure the waves came in (which we weren't paying attention to) and got my little itty bitty tooties wet....... then it covered up the hole we scooped out..... So we gave up....

Loot of the day: One Rusty nail...

What do we do after we gave up at the beach? LOL this is good--- you know I got the metal detector so I would walk more and lose weight.... I did walk with it.. I walked to the truck and we drove our happy asses to the pizza palace for lunch....

Even though the box says light weight metal detector, after about 23 feet of walking with it - it started getting heavier.... I don't think Tom would have problems with it, cause he exercises his arms, lifting weights daily.... Sometimes as much as 12 ounces at a time! I don't lift weight, except for what my fork can hold.

I think I would have better luck if I would just follow drunks around here and get the change that they drop.
Actually... we will go back out after the next storm and its warmer outside.... There are alot of Civil war fields around here so we may try that also. If nothing else it will find the screws and bolts that Tom drops and have us searching for.....

Tom was gone since Thursday to another carshow. He took the car along so that it would move from it's parking spot and get to see some of the country. I think that car is attached to us. No one wants to buy it - We never had this much problems getting rid of a car before, I will be glad when the economy turns around and someone buys this car.

I was stuck at home with ms. Whiney-Ass dog again. She adopted a "daddy-subsitute" while he was gone. Mitch sits and fishes beside us when he's not working, he made a little spot for her so she could lay beside him. So that is what she did all weekend. Lay there and watched him fish. She was nice and content doing that all weekend. I even got a chance to get a nap in. She laid there for hours just watching and waiting for him to catch a fish. His luck was about as good as ours with the metal detector, so she mostly just saw the bait fish and not much else. But that worked out well for me, she was content, and I was rid of her for a few hours each day.

So tonight is the end of my 4 day weekend. Tomorrow it's back to work and whiney ass people all day. These days went by fast. I kept busy while Tom was gone, I re-organized the boat. That took all of 15 minutes since there isn't much you can do in here. But it was still better than being at work. Hell some days going to the dentist is better than being at work.

Judy+ Math = $%^#@

Well i finally talked him into getting a new fridge for the kitchen/livingroom/spare bedroom/ computer area.. we moved the microwave and put it in that spot right beside the sink, he helped me measure and it fits perfect. We even measured the doors to make sure it fit through the openings before buying it.... As you read more you will see his math is better than mine...

So while I went to Lowest to pick up this 130 lb fridge and load it in the truck to bring it home (I did have help from Mr. Lowes-Greeter retiree) well ok not much help, I didn't want the guy to get hurt, I seriously think the fridge weighed more than he did...... So basically I lifted it in the truck myself, Mr Lowes-Greeter retiree did make me strap it down so it 'wouldn't fly out".... It was easier to do it his way then argue with him... So I waited for him to go find string...... and tied it down.

I got it home, found a gaping hole under my counter where the old fridge used to be. Since we bought a bigger fridge than what was in the boat already we now have this space......

Getting the fridge in the boat was a hoot.... it took 3 guys to get it in. (One female picked it up herself at the store and loaded it in the truck, but to get it in the boat, took 3?????)

Since now i have this hole that need something in it, they suggested getting a cabinet thingie to slide in the opening, it actually would of fit perfectly, but the base cabinets have a drawer that messes up everthing, so I opted for shelves so that my stuff can sit on it. So Tom measured and gave it to me and I went back to Lowes.

I found the perfect size shelves, well according to the box..... But didn't take into account that since i wanted to slide the mircowave into a shelf that the inside measurements would be smaller than the outside. So my Microwave is about 1/4 inch too big.... But Lucky for me I did Judy-Math in the store and KNEW it would sit on the top shelf. See I have 35 inches for the opening. My cabinet is 27 inches, My microwave comes up to 13 inches high.... so quick math tells you that it would work on the top shelf. Well at the store when buying it, the math was correct..... Real world - its not working

So the solution to my problem - We're still debating it.... we can

  1. Saw the sides off of the shelves, so the microwave can sit on the top shelf, but have less space on the bottom shelf. Ruining the $50 shelves.

  2. Buy a new microwave ($80)

  3. Leave it as it is... Because being a redhead I did Make it work for me. Actually, I am getting used to the way it looks.

So my simple I need a fridge has turned in to a nightmare, a weekend project, and its still not done..... But I have my microwave on the shelves... Seems that if you turn the shelves on the side, there is enough room for it to sit on the top of the side.... :) Clever chick ain't I? Ok so it may look a little on the redneck side, but for now it works...... Till Tom fixes my boo-boo...

All because I suck at math.

Detour to get to work

This is the route that we took to work today, the causeway was closed due to an accident. What a pain it was, it took us an hour to get to work....

This is how it usually is for us to get to work:

What could of made it worse? We could still be carpooling...

Needless to say we both were late for work, it took us an hour to get to work. Glad we didnt wait for the road to open again, it took over 3 hours for them to reopen the road....

But you know I ALWAYS wanted a boat....

So Tom has always wanted a boat.... This is his logic and reason WHY he bought a boat this weekend. He felt deprived that he didn't have a boat. And he said "You know I always wanted a boat"...

Now Maybe I'm not seeing this from his point of view, and I'm just being blonde... but if my house that he moved me into FLOATS on fricking water, isn't THAT considered a BOAT???

Help me out here if I'm missing something here.....

So he has added to his TOY collection again.... You know many, many years ago I used to be considered one of his toys..... Now just like the Lincoln logs he used to have as a kid, I am just sitting around collecting dust being neglected. :(

I have come to the conclusion that he doesn't like money in the bank, that he would rather see his money sitting on stone or grass and of course it has to have a motor.

Ok back to the boat..... It's a 21 foot ski boat, with a mercruiser 454 engine I think... hell I don't remember what he said.... You know I only hear half of the stuff he says...and ignore the part that I do hear of what he says most of the time.

The boat does start and run, but needs engine work, and really needs cleaned. But for the price he got it for, along with the trailer to haul it on, it will do. He says he needs to get the trailer fixed with cross member bars???? So that when he hauls it, it will be safer.... Now, I'm thinking, how dangerous could it be to haul the boat 150 yards to the boat launch ramp?? And WHY do I have to spend more money to do that? Hell Let me drive the truck with the boat on the trailer, I am good at dropping things in the water here....

He has been outside all day working on it, buffing it, waiting for the neighbor boy to appear - so that he can bribe him into cleaning the inside and armor-all it to make it look pretty.

Why won't I clean it? Well, I had a true Judy-moment this weekend. I was uploading a new website, and somehow totally destroyed 3 of my sites. I have been rebuilding websites all weekend. Seems that sql database files are importaint in web-land. who knew...... But I have 2 fixed and back online, only one to go. I should of backed them up, but guess what? I didn't. So this has been my weekend of joy and happiness.

We pause here for a moment till Neal gets back after checking his website, and my main site to see what I did...... I have kept it a secret from him all weekend... :)

Ok Neal should be back, and relieved that I didn't break anything major on the main sites.

Ok for those of you courious about what he got, here it is...

Top Picture shows it only half buffed, He was buffing away when I snapped this picture, but photo-shopped him out of it.... Notice I left the cute dog in the picture though...

The inside of the boat....

Actually it's not a bad little boat. It a 1989 model, and once he gets it running we can go out and play on the water after work. We can actually go under the Bridge and not have them open it. Wooo Hooo... First place we're gonna go is back up the Dismal Swamp this fall. I can hardly wait.
